(4.2) Workshop: Tools for the Design Revolution

For change to occur, a design revolution is required, after which designers will look to further define or redefine what already exists, i.e. radically improve it, rather than create a constant stream of new product variants.

During a weekend in June, IDRV and the participants explored the question of how the tools for the design revolution can be put into practice.

The design revolution will also bring down the current technology-driven concept of innovation. We are beginning to move away from traditional notions of products and design; we are focusing on experimentation, on solidarity rather than competition. The social relevance of design is coming to the fore. Social innovation, information instead of naivety, exchange and networking, open sharing of knowledge resources and lateral thinking - that is a good starting position for the beginning.
