(3.1) Regenerative Design Lab at Angewandte

In the current summer semester, the Regenerative Design Lab at the University of Applied Arts Vienna once again explores how design can be consistently conceived and implemented through circular and regenerative principles. Under the direction of Harald Gründl, the lab offers students from the Institute of Design an experimental platform to further develop their artistic design projects at the intersection of theory and practice.

A particular focus this semester is the collaboration with Vitra as an industry partner. Together, the lab investigates how office furniture can be reimagined through the lens of regenerative design – with the aim of contributing tangible solutions to a future-oriented circular economy.

Closely linked to the design theory seminar “Design Revolution Now!”, the lab provides students with the opportunity to critically question existing paradigms, explore radical new perspectives, and expand their individual design practice through the principles of circular and regenerative design.
