(3.12) Eat after Use at AUSGABE

Under the title Eat after Use, designer Lena Beigel and IDRV continue their joint artistic research into Regenerative Design. At its centre are our relationships with soil, food, materials and technology, and the question of how we nourish and use within these systems.

The cultivated plant maize serves as a concrete starting point: everyday food, agricultural production, industrial use and energy production converge within it. The installation moves between root and commodity, tracing the marks left by these transformations. In doing so, it reveals relationships between soil, plant, production and use that are barely legible in the finished product.

Eat after Use asks how we use and design within these relationships. What changes when use is understood not simply as extraction, but as part of living systems in which we participate?
